Netflix has picked up True CJ Creations' Thai remake of Korean original – time-travelling crime thriller "23:23" – in a licensing deal for Vietnam with regional distributor Bomanbridge Media.
The Vietnam deal announced at ATF also includes TrueVisions original, "My Sassy Girl", from Halo Productions.
The acquisitions are part of a raft of sales Bomanbridge Media announced as this year's ATF opened its doors in Singapore today.
Mongolia’s Mongol HD inked a 160+ hour drama package, including "TV Prisoner No 1", "The Baker and The Beauty", "The Brave", "Deep Crime Unit", "Blue Moon" and "The A Word (the U.K. adaptation of Israeli series "Yellow Peppers"), through Bomanbridge’s collaboration with Keshet International.
In other deals, BBC Studios Asia acquired the six-hour "Billionaire Resorts" (Rumpus Media for Channel Five), which looks inside some of world’s luxurious holiday resorts.
Following the pick-up by Netflix Southeast Asia, new six-episode half-hour food docseries "Chefs Uncut", from Singapore’s Creators Lab, has been acquired by PCCW in Hong Kong, SBS Australia and Mediawan in France.
The series features six successful young Asian chefs: Bjorn Shen, Janice Wong and Michelin-starred LG Han from Singapore, Philippines’ Jordy Navarra and from Thailand the Michelin-awarded Chefs Pam and Ton.
Season one has just been delivered and premieres on Netflix Southeast Asia on Q1 2024, with season two currently under development.
Correction: The original version of this article that appeared on 6 Dec mistakenly identified "My Sassy Girl" as True CJ Creations. The series is from Halo Productions and went out as a TrueVisions Original. Both deals are for Vietnam only.
