Thai drama ramps up in the Philippines; GMA picks up multiple titles from JKN Global Media
02 December 2020

The Philippines’ leading free-TV broadcaster, GMA Network, has acquired five prime-time Thai dramas from free-TV broadcaster BEC World/Channel 3 in a second package deal with Bangkok-based distributor, JKN Global Media.

The five series – led by “My Husband in Law”, starring ContentAsia Awards 2020 winner Mark Suparat – will all air in 2021. The other titles are “Thong Ek – the Herbal Master”, “Game of Affection”, “Prophecy of Love” and “Mr. Merman”.

The deal is part of Thai content’s growing footprint in the region on both free-TV and streaming platforms.

Recent agreements have also put titles such as “Haunted Hair” and “My Forever Sunshine” on regional streaming platform Viu; and “Love Destiny” and “Princess Hours” on Mediacorp-owned platforms meWatch/Suria/Channel U.
