Taiwanese production houses DaMou Entertainment and sister incubator Koko Entertainment unveiled 2024 production highlights during TCCF in Taipei this afternoon, including a remake of Korean drama “Itaewon Class” and the return of “The World Between Us” for a second season.
“Itaewon Class” adaptation (working title “Fired Up!”) is the first international collaboration between DaMou Entertainment, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and South Korean entertainment company Kakao Webtoon.
“Fired Up!” will run as an HBO Asia original.
“The World Between Us” season two reunites DaMou Entertainment with Public Television Service (PTS) and Taipei-based producer Catchplay.
Production on both series begins next month.
Directed by Kao Pin-chuan (“The Gangs”) and Tseng Ying-ting (“The Abandoned”), “Fired Up!” stars Eric Chou (“My Best Friend's Breakfast”) in the story of a man seeking the truth behind his father’s death.
The cast includes Angela Yuen (“The Narrow Road”), Shao Yu-wei (“More Than Blue”) and Sean Lin (“See you in Time”).
The lead screenwriter is Chien Li-ying (“Wave Makers”) with Birdy Fong (“Take Me To The Moon”).
Lin Yu-ling (“The World Between Us”) is executive producer, with producers Chiang Cheng-en (“Workers”) and Lin Shiang-lin (“The Soul”).
“The World Between Us” season two is directed by Lin Chun Yang (“Wave Makers”) and stars Vic Chou, Simon Hsueh, Nikki Hsieh, Yang Kuei Mei and Sara Yu.
The series spans three time frames and delves into issues including public health, law, politics and mental illness.
DaMou said in today’s presentation that the series stayed true to the realistic and issue-oriented tone of the first season, delves into topics such as social safety net and citizen judges.
