Studio886, the digital media distribution arm of Studio76 Original Productions, has launched the first Taiwan-backed FAST Chinese-drama channel in the Americas in a carriage deal with ODK Media’s Asia-focused entertainment platform, Amasian TV.
886TV debuts with a slate of Taiwanese series, including “Silence” (2006) and “Fondant Garden” (2012) acquired from 16 Taiwanese TV stations and production companies. The FAST service will also air works from Angie Chai, the creator of “Why Why Love” and “Love Scar.”
Studio76 founder and CEO, Dennis Yang, says 886TV will draw from a library of 4,500 hours of drama, pre-school animation and documentaries, many of which have been running on Studio886’s YouTube channel.
The channel has subtitling support in English, Japanese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.
ODK Media’s Peter Park said Amasian TV’s goal was to bring the best of Asian entertainment to audiences across North and South America. The platform offers tech features such as “start over”, which bridge linear and on-demand viewing and a personalised EPG.
