Singapore pay-TV platform StarHub stopped airing action channel Blue Ant Extreme this week, telling subscribers that “we are consistently looking out for fresh and exciting content to update our offerings. This means we have to make hard choices and update our line-up from time to time”.
StarHub’s decision means the network drops off the channels map in Singapore, which was once among the regional industry’s most lucrative markets.
Sister entertainment channel, Blue Ant Entertainment, which is also carried by rival platform Singtel, remains on StarHub as part of the Entertainment+ pack.
StarHub says it is not replacing Blue Ant Extreme. Both linear channels are part of the Asia channels business acquired in September this year by Rock Entertainment Holdings.
The company was established by long-time Fox Networks Group exec, Ward Platt, and joins a growing community of indie channels owners-operators in Asia.
