Four Singapore dramas and two classic movie titles debut on Amazon Prime Video in Singapore and Malaysia this week in the first licensing deal that national media network, Mediacorp, has sealed with the global streamer.
The TV series include Ochre Pictures’ psychological thriller “Third Rail”, along with Weiyu Films’ award-winning period drama, “This Land is Mine”.
Winner of the 2022 ContentAsia Award for Best Drama Series/Telefilm Made for a Single Asian Market, “This Land is Mine” is based on a book by Singapore’s former Attorney-General Walter Woon, about life after the end of World War II, when Singapore returned to British rule after four years of Japanese Occupation.
“Third Rail” stars Rebecca Lim, Jason Godfrey and Nurul Aini in a train hijack that forces hostages to reevaluate their lives and reconnect with loved ones.
The other two dramas now on Prime Video in the two markets are mystery series “Reunion” and Oak3 Films’ 2020 period drama, “Titoudao”, which is Mediacorp’s most watched English-language drama ever.
“Titoudao” is about a traditional Chinese opera singer who climbs her way to stardom.
“Reunion” recounts a 2004 camping trip that turned tragic for five teens and rebounds 15 years later when one of the five re-surfaces along with secrets all wished had remained buried.
The two classic films from Mediacorp Raintree Pictures are “Dance Dance Dragon” and “It’s a Great Great World”.
