Production on the Mandarin version of Korea’s romantic detective drama, “Good Job”, kicks off in the fourth quarter of this year, part of a broad cross-border initiative to scale up Asia’s presence on international line-ups.
Filming on the 16-episode co-development, produced by Taiwan’s Studio76, is scheduled to begin in Q1 2025. The series is Studio76’s first collaboration involving the three-year-old KT Studiogenie.
Today’s announcement coincides with the KT Group’s showcase in Seoul today, during which the company doubled down on its commitment to entertainment, promised to turn 20-year-old cable channel ENA into a top channel by 2026, and outlined a future vision grounded in technology, including AI.
ENA chief executive, Kim Ho-sang, promised that the ENA channel would be “reborn”.
“Good Job”, announced during Hong Kong Filmart in March, is the first project from the freshly minted multi-party Taiwan/Korea production alliance involving Taiwan’s Studio 76 (“You Have to Kill Me”), Gala Television Corporation (“Not A Murder Story”) and Strong Productions (“LSD Stamps”), along with South Korea’s telco-linked KT Studio Genie.
The four companies said today that “Good Job”, originally produced in Korea by KT Studiogenie, was the first of a series of collaborations “aimed at producing compelling content for global audiences”.
Mandarin remakes of Korean and Japanese series are being planned.
Details of additional productions have not been announced.
The 2022 Korean version of “Good Job”, aired widely across free-TV, cable and streaming platforms, stars Jung Il-woo and Girls Generation member, Kwon Yu-ri.
KT Studiogenie’s upcoming titles include "Crash", which premieres on ENA on 13 May, followed by "Parole Officer, Lee Han-shin," "Your Honor", "Drunken Romance" and "Good Woman Buscemi".
