Prime Video releases Amazon Original comedy series, “Comedy Island Philippines”, globally on 31 August, the streamer said today.
The six-part series launches with three episodes streaming back-to-back each week over a two-week period, from 31 August to 7 September.
The hybrid scripted/unscripted series was produced by Amazon Studio in collaboration with Base Entertainment Asia.
“Comedy Island Philippines” stars a mix of comedians, actors and social media celebrities, including Carlo Aquino, Rufa Mae Quinto and Andrea Brillantes.
The group are left on an island and challenged to escape in a series of games designed to win votes from the island’s citizens. Contestants with the most votes get a chance to go home.
Quark Henares, head of Prime Video’s Philippines’ originals described the series as a “hybrid between reality, comedy, and adventure, shot on an island with massive sets, which features both the best comedic talent from the two major networks in the Philippines, and the new emerging voices including the up-and-coming social media superstars”.
