Pops is adding the complete Naruto anime series to its online video platform in Vietnam in a giant rights deal with Japanese broadcaster TV Tokyo.
The agreement, announced at the weekend, includes 700+ Naruto/Naruto Shippuden episodes as well as three other TV Tokyo titles – classic titles “Sergeant Keroro”, “My Guardian Characters” and “Carino Coni”.
The Naruto/Naruto Shippuden programmes about a young ninja who dreams of becoming the village leader are being dubbed for Pops’ Vietnamese audiences.
The new deal follows Pops’ decision to debut anime on the platform in 2020.
Launching the 220-episode “Naruto” at the weekend, Pops said the series would stream on both its app and its online anime channel.
The launch date for the 500 “Naruto Shippuden” episodes has not been announced.
“Sergeant Keroro”, “My Guardian Characters” and “Carino Coni” will be released this month and in early 2021.
Fabien Lotz, Pops Vietnam country manager said a significant driver for the rights acquisition was to fight piracy and provide a legitimate option for anime fans to access content.
