★ The Singapore Film Commission and government agency, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), have selected six Southeast Asian co-productions as part of the latest Talent Progression Programme Content Development grant. Two of the projects are from Malaysia, two from Thailand and one each from the Philippines and Vietnam. Five Singapore producers – Fran Borgia, Chow Wai Thong, Huang Junxiang, Han Kwang Wei and Lai Weijie – will helm the six projects, with total funding of S$300,000/US$220,102. The IMDA said today at the opening of the ATF that it had supported a total of 20 Southeast Asian co-productions since 2019.
★ Singapore’s Mediacorp is adding more than 1,400 videos to its meWatch streaming platform in a deal with digital content talent network, Collab Asia. The content from six creators includes “Sumimi ASMR”, “Freesiaa Made” and “Guru Fitness Kitchen”.
★ Global free streaming platform WaterBear rolled out in Singapore today. Founded by veteran documentary maker, Ellen Windemuth, WaterBear’s content spans biodiversity, community, climate action and sustainable fashion. Content includes “Ghost Fleet” and “Keepers of the Forest”.
★ WarnerMedia’s Indian kids channel Pogo has launched in Telugu for the southern states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This is the brand’s third language service after Tamil and HIndi.
