MNC Pictures’ budget-busting decision pays off for Indonesian producer
09 January 2023

Indonesia’s MNC Pictures moves into 2023 with its first movie on Amazon Prime Video in Southeast Asia, putting something of a stamp of approval on the Jakarta-based national media company’s decision to raise its production budgets to approx US$1.5 million for the first time.

"Ranah 3 Warna", produced by MNC Pictures, premiered on the platform on 5 January.

Arbani Yasiz (Ustad Milenial) stars as 19-year old Alif Fikri, a village boy from the shores of Lake Maninjau who wants to follow his idol, BJ Habibie, to study and travel. Battered by a series of obstacles, he nevertheless persists and never loses sight of his dream.

"Ranah 3 Warna", adapted from a novel by Ahmad Fuadi, is directed by Guntur Soeharjanto, produced by Widya Wardhani Ichram and written by Alim Sudio.

The film was released during the Jakarta Film Week in November 2021, with a broader theatrical release in June 2022.
