Mipcom 2023 draws to a close with more than 11,000 participants and a buyer count of 3,567, a 10% increase on last year, Lucy Smith, director of Mipcom Cannes and MipJunior, said at the market wrap press conference in Cannes this morning.
Of the approx 320 exhibitor stands, 50 were new to the market, reflecting developments in FAST and tech related sectors.
China, which was this year’s Country of Honour, returned to Cannes with 300+ participants from 40 companies – its biggest delegation since 2019.
Smith highlighted industry-wide transformation, change and renewal and said attendance this year reflected the vibrant return of the third-party sales/distribution market, led by the U.S. and the U.K.
She also pointed to the global hunt for new stories from around the world.
Looking ahead to MipTV 2024 in April, Smith said the market would be building on the transformation that started in 2019.
Final Mipcom figures will be released after the market closes.
