The chance meeting of Atom and Stella while riding a public bus develops into a romantic and intimate relationship. Their relationship falls apart as they struggle to sort out their problems. Czarina, Atom’s manipulative employer, seduces Atom. Stella discovers that Czarina is pregnant with Atom’s child. Unable to forgive Atom’s betrayal, Stella ends their relationship. Atom honours his responsibility to his unborn child and enters into a loveless marriage with Czarina. Several years later, Stella marries Roald, a successful doctor who is very controlling. After several years, Atom and Stella accidentally meet again.
