Korean drama retained its hold on Netflix’s top 10 non-English TV charts for the week of 21-27 Mar 2022, securing six spots, including number one for Korean broadcaster SBS’ Monday/Tuesday prime-time romcom, “Business Proposal” (aka “The Office Blind Date”).
All six titles from the previous week’s (14-20 March 2022) chart appeared on the new list, albeit in different positions.
At number one for its second consecutive week, “Business Proposal”, produced by Kross Pictures, was viewed for 30.94 million hours over the seven days – an increase of just under 32% over the previous week’s 23.48 million hours and the highest increase in viewing time of all other series on the top 10.
Directed by Park Seon-ho (“Rugal”), “Business Proposal” is a 12-episode drama based on a webtoon about a girl who goes on a blind date as a favour to her friend.
In Korea, the show’s average national ratings on SBS have climbed from 4.9% share (835,000 viewers) for the premiere episode on 28 February to 11.6% share (2.149 million viewers) for episode 10 on 29 March. The finale is on 5 April.
Director Jung Ji-Hyun’s (“You Are My Spring”) coming-of-age series, “Twenty Five Twenty One”, took second place again on the Netflix top 10 with 24.15 million hours viewed (up 14.78% from 21.04 million hours the previous week).
Although it made the list at number six, down two places from the previous week, Korean legal drama “Juvenile Justice” fell the most, dropping 27.35% to 12.51 million hours viewed from 17.22 million hours the previous week.
This week’s top 10 series attracted a total of 154.73 million viewing hours, a 3.5% increase from last week’s 149.49 million.
Still nothing comes close to the record set by “All of us are Dead”.
The Korean zombie drama attracted 236.23 million viewing hours for the week of 31 Jan-6 Feb 2022. In total, the top 10 non-English shows attracted a combined 478 million hours viewed for the same week.
