Korean shows increased their share of Netflix’s global top 10 non-English language TV charts for the week of 14-20 March 2022, adding one drama to end the week with six spots.
Korea’s one-place gain was at the expense of Colombian titles, which dropped to two of the 10 places from the previous week’s three.
The winner of the week was Korean romcom “Business Proposal”, which jumped five spots to overtake “Juvenile Justice” as Netflix’s most viewed non-English language TV show in the world for the week.
“Business Proposal”, based on a webtoon by HaeHwa, recorded 23.48 million hours viewed in its second week on the chart, and was on the top 10 in 27 countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The series previously ranked sixth with 15.9 million viewing hours for the week of 7-13 March 2022.
Directed by Park Sun-ho (“Soosanghan Pateuneo”) and written by Han Sul-hee (“Ugly Young-A”) and Hong Bo-hee (“Standby”), “Business Proposal” is about Shin Ha-ri (played by Kim Sejeong), who goes on a blind date with her company’s CEO Kang Tae-Moo (played by Ahn Hyo-Seop) disguised as her friend, Jin Young-Seo (played by Seol In-Ah).
“Juvenile Justice”, which topped the list for two consecutive weeks (26 Feb 2022-6 Mar 2022 and 7-13 Mar 2022), dropped to fourth place with 17.22 million hours viewed.
Former chart topper, Korean zombie drama series “All of Us Are Dead”, dropped one more spot to fifth place with 13.82 million hours viewed, from fourth in the previous chart (17.48 million hours viewed, 7-13 March 2022).
Of the top three Korean dramas on this week’s list, “All of Us Are Dead” remains the series with the most viewing hours in its first week at the top of the global TV charts.
