Former News Limited CEO Kim Williams is replacing Ita Buttrose at the helm of the Australia Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). His five-year term begins in March. 

Buttrose steps down as chair at the end of her five-year term. 

Australian prime minister, Anthony Albanese, announced the appointment on 24 January, calling Williams a perfect fit for the role.
