Spanish mystery/thriller “Fake Profile” continued its win on the latest Netflix’s global top 10 TV non-English chart for the week of 5-11 June, albeit with a 15% drop in viewing hours week-on-week.
At 64.73 million hours viewed in its second week on the top 10, “Fake Profile” came in way ahead of the #2 title – Korea’s webcomic-based crime/action series, “Bloodhounds”.
“Bloodhounds”, which premiered on 9 June, debuted on the global list during the latest week with 27.97 million hours viewed – about 60% fewer than “Fake Profile”.
“Bloodhounds” is about two young boxers (played by Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi) who join forces with a benevolent moneylender to take down a loan shark who preys on the financially desperate.
The series is co-produced by Webtoon’s Studio N (“Sweet Home”, “Yumi’s Cells”), Seed Film (“Love and Leashes”) and Seven Osix (“The Divine Fury”), and directed/written by Kim Joo-hwan ("Midnight Runners").
“Bloodhounds” ranked #1 in Korea, and was on the top 10 TV charts in 39 other countries, including Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan.
Korean broadcaster/programmer/producer, JTBC/SLL’s winning streak continued in the latest week; the studio was behind the three other Korean titles on the list.
The three were comedy “The Good Bad Mother” with 26.06 million viewing hours (#3) in its sixth week; medical/family/comedy “Doctor Cha” with 25.32 million viewing hours (#4) in its seventh week; and workplace series “Agency” with 9.6 million hours viewed (#7) in its second week.
Although by no means the worst week of non-English-language TV on Netflix, viewing hours for the week increased to a total of 219.42 million from the previous week’s 212.26 million.
The sole title from Japan, “The Days”, based on the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident in 2011, returned at #5 for the second week, with an increase in viewing hours to 25.08 million from the previous week’s 16.98 million hours.
