Asian streaming service Watcha has acquired rights for Japan to the second season of political thriller, “Total Control”, from All3Media International.
Australia’s ABC, which has just premiered season two, also bought regional rights for the Blackfella Films’ series covering multiple markets in Asia, including Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Pakistan and Malaysia.
The sales follow All3Media International’s deal with Australia’s Blackfella Films to manage worldwide rights to the drama (excluding North America, where rights are handled by Keshet International).
The second series picks up from where season one left off, with fearless Indigenous senator Alex Irving unseating the Prime Minister. Alex now faces the ultimate test in a democratic system: the judgement of the people.
“Total Control” follows a raft of deals for the Jodie Comer and Stephen Graham feature length drama “Help” across Asia Pacific, including Huanxi Media Group for its OTT platform, Huanxi Media.
The film is about the relationship between a young care home worker and a patient, whose lives are changed forever by the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in spring 2020.
