Japanese drama “First Love” debuted on Netflix’s global top 10 non-English language TV titles this week with 7.22 million hours viewed, giving the series eighth place on a list topped by Spanish drama “Elite” season six (48.3 million viewing hours).
“First Love” is directed and written by Yuri Kanchiku and stars Hikari Mitsushima and Takeru Satoh in a sprawling love story that spans more than two decades.
In another win for Asian drama this week, Indian crime thriller, “Khakee: The Bihar Chapter”, debuted on the list for the week of 21-27 November at number nine with 6.33 million hours viewed.
“Khakee: The Bihar Chapter”, about a righteous cop in pursuit of a ruthless criminal, was created and written by Neeraj Pandey.
The series premiered on 25 November.
Korean drama took three of the places on the top 10 for the week, topped by “Under the Queen's Umbrella” at number three with 18.1 million hours in its fifth week on the list.
The other two Korean dramas on the list for the first time are JTBC’s “Reborn Rich”, which placed fourth in its first week on the list with 10.4 million hours viewed, and “Somebody” in fifth place with just under 10 million hours viewed.
