U.K.-based global programmer ITV Studios followed up the announcement of scripted sales to Asia earlier this week with today’s list of non-scripted shows – including “Love Island” – that have been picked up by broadcasters in Asia, led by India and Japan.
Multiple series/versions of “Love Island” have gone to Lionsgate Play and Viacom18 for India, TFC in Japan, and Netflix for some territories in Southeast Asia.
Discovery India acquired “Impossible Engineering” (Twofour) and Lionsgate Play added “Secrets Of The Supercars”, also from Twofour.
Both shows were also bought by Discovery Japan, along with two series of Windfall Films’ “Building Giants”.
Elsewhere in Japan, BS12 has acquired “Ancient Cathedral Rescue: Inside the Race to Save Notre Dame” (Windfall Films) and “Anatomy of a Wildfire” (Okuhle Films), with The Garden’s “Natural History Museum: World of Wonder” selling to NEP.
The deals were led by Augustus Dulgaro, distribution EVP for Asia Pacific out of Australia.
