The Cambodian Broadcasting Service (CBS) has commissioned two seasons of ITV Studios’ classic general knowledge game show Divided.
The new deal continues ITV Studios’ Q1 2020 winning streak. For the first time, the U.K.-based company tops ContentAsia’s Q1 formats leaderboard with 34 formats on air or commissioned in the region. The win was driven by 24 local versions/seasons of The Voice.
The first Cambodian versions of the game show will be produced by CBS and is scheduled to air in the Spring of 2021 on free-TV network CTN.
Cambodia is the 23rd country to license the format, including Thailand, India and Vietnam.
The game show involves three strangers attempting to answer up to 15 questions over five rounds and accumulate as much cash as they can. At the end of each round, the team is given 15 seconds to decide whether to continue the game or stop and divide the money into three unequal shares.
ITV Studios was particularly strong in Southeast Asia in the first three months of this year with four formats each in Thailand and the Philippines, seven in Vietnam, two in Indonesia and six in Cambodia. The two new seasons of Divided bring the total in Cambodia to eight.
In other parts of the region, ITV Studios’ presence is growing.
In Q1 this year, broadcasters in South Asia (India/Sri Lanka) had acquired/commissioned four versions of The Voice. Three titles are in or headed to China, Korea and Japan.
