Telco-owned Indonesian streamer MaxStream has dialed up the occult on its burgeoning originals slate, further boosting its effort to position the digital streaming platform as the domestic “home of entertainment” and adding to original productions that have grown 113% this year compared to last year.
Horror film “Eyang Putri”, which premiered exclusively on Friday (8 Oct), is a collaboration with Banda Tera Studio 2019 and writer/producer, Lele Laila (“Danur”).
The occult film is about Gendis (played by Sheila Dara Aisha), her husband Reza (Miller Khan) and their child Anya (Shaquilla Nugraha), who witness strange behaviour by grandmother, Eyang Sri (Marini Soerjosoemarno).
MaxStream’s previous originals include horror film “Dibalik Lubang Kunci” (Nov 2020), Ramadhan special “Sajadah Panjang” (May 2021), action title “Serigala Langit” (August 2021), teen drama “Mangi-Mangi” (Sept 2021), and teen friendship story “Kau Dan Dia” (Sept 2021).
Telkomsel said last month that its burgeoning originals library was directly proportional to viewership growth on its streaming service to an average of 3.2 million viewers a month consuming MaxStream’s originals – a year-on-year increase of 46%. Original content this year has reached 26 million viewers.
