Blue Ant Media debuts its new Asia-Pacific office at the ATF market this week, arriving in Singapore with sales of 550 hours this year so far to platforms across the region.
The deals include sales to regional programmers Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), Korean public broadcaster Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), Singapore’s Mediacorp, PCCW Media in Hong Kong and TrueVisions in Thailand.
The bulk of the sales were to Australia and New Zealand, including 80 hours to Nine Network Australia, 75 hours to Foxtel, 60 hours to SBS and 55 hours to New Zealand’s national indigenous broadcaster, Whakaata Māori.
About 43 hours went to Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), including “Fresh Off the Boat” star Hudson Yang’s food show, “Order Up!”, which premiered on Warner Bros Discovery’s (WBD) Asian Food Network in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong in July.
WBD’s India office also picked up about 30 hours of mostly natural history content for Animal Planet.
24 hours of factual entertainment and history went to Thailand’s TrueVisions, including Farpoint Films’ “Ice Vikings” about modern-day fishermen.
Hong Kong’s PCCW Media acquired two seasons of marblemedia’s teen athlete series, “All-Round Champion”, for a total of 22 hours.
KBS acquired three one-hour natural history titles, including Coneflower Studios’ one-off “Woodpeckers: The Hole Story”.
Blue Ant Media-owned Beach House Pictures’ “Order Up!” is also airing on Mediacorp in Singapore, along with “Uptown Otters”, another BHP production; and back2back’s “World’s Deadliest Weather”.
This year’s ATF comes about three months after the appointment of Jon Penn as APAC managing director out of Sydney, with Jason Soh as vice president, distribution, Asia, in Singapore, and Nick Solowski as senior director, international sales & acquisitions, for China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
