U.K.-based indie, Fremantle, has acquired a majority stake in Singapore-based production house, Beach House Pictures (BHP), the companies said in joint statement out of London and Singapore this afternoon.
The investment involves the exit of Canada's Blue Ant Media, which bought into the 19-year-old BHP in 2017.
Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Fremantle said today that the acquisition "further underlines Fremantle’s strategic growth plans to invest in and partner with premium production companies and work with the world’s most exceptional creative talent".
BHP was founded in 2005 by producers Donovan Chan and Jocelyn Little, and produces for a wide range of domestic, regional and international platforms, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Singapore's national broadcaster Mediacorp, China's Bilibili, and Warner Bros Discovery.
Recent productions include Indonesia factual series, "Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee and Jessica Wongso", which won a place on Netflix's top 10 global non-English TV series charts for two weeks in October last year; along with lifestyle series"Mind Your Manners", and "Evolve", which won a ContentAsia Award in 2021 for Best Factual Programme Made in Asia.
