Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) and Banijay Asia unveiled a new season of “Star Vs Food”, upsizing the existing format with an outdoor survival element for Discovery and discovery+, the companies said during the ContentAsia Summit in Bangkok this week.
Led by chef Ranveer Brar, the new season is produced by Endemol Shine India.
Broadcast details haven’t been confirmed.
“Star Vs Food: Survival” features Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Aparshakti Khurana, Mouni Roy and Nakul Mehta.
The show’s original concept revolves around Bollywood celebrities cooking for their family and friends.
The new version is set in Coorg and Spiti, two important locations in India's culinary landscape.
Speaking about strengthening and expanding India’s factual entertainment ecosystem, WBD’s head of factual and lifestyle cluster for South Asia, Sai Abishek, and founder/group CEO of Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India, Deepak Dhar, said the factual and documentary spheres in India remained smaller and more limited than the scripted environment.
Dhar has broader ambitions as well.
“Now we are really pushing forward for the Southeast Asian market. That's our primary target, to set up a production base in this region outside of India,” Dhar said.
