Taiwan’s MangoWork Studio has won the top prize at this year’s Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) pitching event, going home with the US$30,000 TAICCA X CNC Award for its 90-minute animated feature, “Clouded Leopard”, directed by Chi Po-chou.
The US$5-million feature, currently in pre-production with US$2 million already in place, is about a brother and sister who, in a world plagued by black particles, inadvertently save a magical creature with the ability to purify them. Pursued by various forces, they embark on a thrilling adventure.
The second richest cash award of US$19,000/NT$600,000 on the long list of prizes went to action comedy, "Call of Lobster", about a middle-aged loser who dreams of becoming rich by farming lobsters in North Korea until he is unexpectedly forced to team up with a South Korean agent and becomes entangled in a drug case. The US$5.6-million feature, directed by Yin Chen Hao, is at script development stage.
"The Top Percentile", backed by Jessica Kam's Taipei-based Kanvas Creations, won a total of NT$900,000/US$28,000 in three awards, including the NT$300,000 Formosa TV Award. The 10-episode comedy is about three families forced to share an address for a month in order to enrol their children into a top junior high school.
The pitches are an anchor event of the TCCF show and the largest pitching event of its type in Asia supported by a who's who of Taiwanese platforms, including Chunghwa Telecom, the Taichung Film Development Foundation, the New Media Entertainment Association (NMEA), CJ ENM Hong Kong, TVBS, Formosa TV, Hakka TV and Taigi TV.
A total of just over US$278,000 was awarded to 32 projects in this years pitching categories, including TV series, feature films, documentaries, and animation. Another nine projects won various other prizes, including post production services
The TAICCA Award for Best Story went to "Rest in Pieces" by Balena Islet Publishing, which won US$10,000, with a Special Jury Award of US$10,000 presented to tri-country co-production, "The Alleyway" (South Korea, Qatar and Denmark).

More than 10,000 people attended this year's TCCF at its new venue, the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre. While less charming than last year's location at the revitalised tobacco factory at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, the new venue clearly dialled back the creative quirk and, perhaps in a bid to redirect Taiwan's art-house identity, levelled up the commercial ambience.
TAICCA chairperson Homme Tsai highlighted the event's international focus and committed the government-backed organisation to an even larger international presence in 2025.
Other pitch prize winners included "Taiwanese Folklore ‒ The Crown Prince", which won the friDay Video Original Story Award, and "Boys on the Railways", which won the CTS Original IP Award.
"Reborn as Grandma: There Must Be Something More Important Than Inheritance" received the GTV Best Originality Award and the SET TV Next Star Award.
"Don't Worry About Vampire" won the Taipei International Film Award and the BIFAN+ Award, an invitation to the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival’s Asian Project Market.
TAICCA CEO Lu Jiun-Wei commented on the diversity of entries.
