Thai broadcaster BEC World was forced to shut down its grand Channel 3 showcase in Bangkok this evening as an active shooter shooter in the same mall brought the area to a standstill.
Guests and fans had already started assembling at the Royal Paragon Hall at the luxury Siam Paragon mall for the 5pm cocktail reception and stars were rehearsing inside the venue when the shooting started.
The showcase, dubbed "Big 3 – Best and Beyond", was scheduled to run from 7pm to 9.30pm.
Local media reported two people were killed and others injured when the 14-year-old alleged gunman opened fire.
A student at a nearby school has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
No decision has been made on rescheduling the Channel 3 gala, which was to have showcased 13 new dramas, including the highly anticipated "Love Destiny 2".
