Seven of Netflix's non-English TV Top 10 spots for the week of 27 Nov-3 Dec 2023 were filled with Asian titles, led by Korea with five series.
The Korean shows included the first season of "Squid Game", which reappeared on the latest list in 7th spot for its 22nd week on the charts.
The other two Asian shows were Hindi drama, "The Railway Men – The Untold Story Of Bhopal 1984", which was fifth globally for the week with 8 million viewing hours (2 million views), and Netflix's first Philippines original, romantic drama "Replacing Chef Chico", which placed ninth with 6.1 million viewing hours (1.3 million views).
This week's performance continues a high that was reached in August/September (28 Aug-3 Sept), when Korea and Japan dominated the top 10, also with seven spots – five Korean and two Japanese. But it falls short of the week of 17-23 July 2023, when Asian TV titles took 9 of the top 10 spots. The nine were five Japanese, three Korean and Indian crime thriller, "Kohrra".
This week's top Asian show was Korean fantasy/romcom, "My Demon", produced by SBS’ Studio S.
“My Demon” premiered in Korea on free-TV channel SBS as well as on domestic streaming platform, Wavve, on 24 Nov. Netflix carries the series outside Korea.
The top show for the week was Swedish crime series, "A Nearly Normal Family", which was watched for 47.7 million hours (10.5 million views). This was almost double the views of "My Demon".
The other Korean titles were Studio Dragon action/horror "Sweet Home" season 2 in 4th place in its first week on the list; Studio Dragon romcom "Castaway Diva" (8th); and "Strong Girl Nam-soon" (10th) by Barunson Studio, Story Phoenix and SLL/JTBC.
