Asian titles have hit a four-week high on Netflix’s non-English top 10 for the week to 21 July, led by “Master of the House” in a rare global win for Thai drama.
In total, viewers around the world watched 59.6 million hours of the three Asian drama series (a weekly share of just under 40%) on the top 10.
The three Asian titles on the new list are “Master of the House”, “Sweet Home” season three and “Miss Night and Day”, which has been in the top 10 for five weeks.
Directed by Sivaroj Kongsakul, “Master of the House” premiered on 18 July and was viewed for 22.2 million hours (3.7 million views) for the week, putting it at #2 on the top 10 behind Brazilian blockbuster “Desperate Lies”.
“Master of the House”, which appeared on the top 10 in 50 countries, beat the debut of Korea’s “Sweet Home” season three.
“Sweet Home” premiered on 19 July and placed fifth with 17.5 million hours viewed/2.5 million views.
“Sweet Home” was on the top 10 in 23 countries.
A partnership with Kantana Motion Pictures, “Master of the House” was one of 18 originals Netflix announced in February this year.
The series is about a family power struggle sparked off when a diamond tycoon dies mysteriously. Narilya Gulmongkolpech stars as his young wife and former maid.
Non-English TV drama viewing for the week was the highest in at least four weeks, hitting a total of 176.1 million hours for the top 10 titles.
Asian titles in the four weeks since 24 June have been viewed for a total of 159.9 million hours.
