Anime retains its iron grip on demand in Japan, totally squeezing out domestic and international premium drama titles for the week of 19-25 September, according to data science company Parrot Analytics.
Winners on the overall list are a mix of old and new titles, led by long-running classic, "My Hero Academia", about a boy who enrolls in a prestigious hero academy and learns what it means to be a superhero.
On the digital originals list, YouTube premium series, "Fischers and The Lost Treasure", has lost none of its appeal among Japan’s online audiences in almost four years, showing up at number one on the demand rankings and beating the anime titles offered by global streamers.
The digital originals top 10 for the week was way more diverse, with anime showing up at #4 in Netflix’s "Kengan Ashura".
