Anime dominates demand in Japan; long-running titles beat back new competition – Parrot Analytics
03 April 2023

No amount of digital magic or outside streaming budgets have been able to match the pulling power of legendary home-grown anime in Japan, where "My Hero Academia", "One Piece" and "Attack on Tita" dominated demand for the week of 21-17 March.

According to data science company Parrot Analytics, all 10 of the top in-demand titles in Japan for the week were anime, along with six of the top 10 in-demand digital originals.

The outsize taste for anime in Japan runs wide, crossing genres from action to comedy targetting the entire audience spectrum from kids to adults.
