Warner Bros Discovery launches Max in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong on 19 November.
The Southeast Asia markets rollouts, announced by APAC president, James Gibbons during Media Partners APOS event last month, are Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
The new platform will replace HBO Go.
Existing HBO Go subscriptions will be migrated to the new service.
The Max app will be available for subscription through Max.com, and through select (as yet unnamed) partners.
Titles mentioned in today’s announcement include “The Last of Us”, “Barbie”, “Deadliest Catch”, “Friends”, “Sex and the City”, “Harry Potter”, “Dune: Part Two” and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”, along with the premiere of “Dune: Prophecy” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”.
No local titles are listed.
In a joint note to staff ahead of this afternoon’s announcement, APAC president, James Gibbons, and APAC streaming lead, Jason Monteiro, said the platform would be localised “to reflect the preferences of consumers across the region”.
At launch, Max will be available in several languages and offer a choice of subscription plans, including a mobile plan via select providers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.
Details on plans, pricing, local features and platform experience will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Southeast Asia/Hong Kong/Taiwan roll out followed Max’s launch with U-Next in Japan on 25 September.
