Sonia Fleck, Bomanbridge Media's CEO, is ContentAsia's Woman to Watch for today because... she's carved out a credible, reliable, effective and profitable space as an indie distributor in Asia over the past 12 years, has just made her biggest play yet for global expansion of her distribution and production business, appointing former Sky Vision veteran Peter Pas to drive business out of London, and is about to unveil a ballsy investment in a breathtaking documentary (more about that later).
She's also is on the hunt for new production partners across scripted, factual, formats, kids and entertainment, and says she will double acquisitions spend this year compared to last year.
Asked what motives her, Fleck says: "Motive is indeed the word to consider".
"First, I want the company to authentically offer opportunities to empower my employees, welcome challenging situations to permit character building, and help them find job identity which feels like a worthy cause to get behind. It’s important that Bomanbridge be a continual experience for them AND for me, a place to strive for a 'meaningful better'."
"Second, I know that a clear, positive, and resolute mindset is the holy grail of success. Leading a company is an educational rollercoaster; and I love that it is difficult. I strive not only to engage and grow the company that we are in, but also creatively work on the company that we are becoming. This dual entrepreneurial experience is a revolving door of ideas and innovation. It’s wonderful."
Here's what else she said in answer to the other two questions we've asked women across Asia's content industry for our latest series:
What would you like people to say about you when you are not in the room?
“We’d love to have her in the room.”
Are you now where you thought you would be when you were 20?

"I didn’t know what my values and passions were at 20! Goal setting requires more than affirmations and dreams… At the time, I did know that change was a constant and I was very open to adventure. My life today is in every way unexpected and a positive surprise. When I look back on my past, I am entirely thankful for all I have learned. No regrets."
