No mercy for pirates, Hong Kong’s TVB declares after new site-blocking action

Hong Kong’s Television Broadcasts Ltd (TVB) has succeeded in blocking 23 online services trying to sneak around a landmark site-blocking order granted in Australia last year.

The sites were blocked yesterday (10 April) following the 29 March order.

Describing the successful application in Australia’s Federal Court as “another victory” in the fight against copyright infringement, TVB said it would be “relentless in our efforts to combat overseas copyright-infringing activities. We will go after the pirates no matter where and how they flee”.

The 23 locations has moved their domain names to circumvent last September’s order forcing ISPs – including Telstra, Optus, Vocus and TPG – to block illegal boxes offering TVB content.
